(Textbook Activities & Solutions)

  1. People speak different languages in our country. → True (T) (শুদ্ধ)

  2. The beauty of a rainbow comes from a single colour.

  3. The strength of our nation lies in our diversity. → True (T) (শুদ্ধ)

  4. Our differences are blessings for us. → True (T) (শুদ্ধ)

  5. Every state does not have its unique language, attire and music.

Activity 3: Comprehension Questions & Detailed Answers (প্ৰশ্নসমূহৰ বিশদ উত্তৰ)

** (a) Question: What examples are given in the lesson to show India’s diversity? **

  • Answer: The lesson highlights India’s diverse landscapes from the majestic snow-capped Himalayas in the north to the serene coconut-fringed shores in the south, and from western golden deserts to eastern lush green hills, alongside its unique languages, traditional attire, art, music, festivals, and regional cuisines.

** (b) Question: How is a rainbow used as a symbol in the passage? **

  • Answer: A rainbow is used as a metaphor for unity in diversity. Just as a rainbow’s true beauty comes from the harmonious combination of all its distinct colors rather than a single color, our society’s greatness comes from people of different cultures, languages, and beliefs living together harmoniously.

** (c) Question: What does the phrase ‘unity in diversity’ mean in the context of the passage? **

  • Answer: It means standing united, respectful, and bonded as one single nation despite our vast differences in language, religion, culture, food habits, and traditions.

** (d) Question: How does strength come from togetherness? **

  • Answer: Strength does not come from isolation. When diverse people support, respect, cooperate, and stand by each other in every situation, their collective power becomes unstoppable.

** (e) Question: How can you promote ‘unity in diversity’ in your school? **

  • Answer: We can promote it by celebrating festivals of all communities, learning and greeting in different native languages, sharing diverse traditional dishes, encouraging inclusivity for children with special needs, and discouraging discrimination or teasing.

** (f) Question: If you notice people being mocked for their language or culture, how would you respond to it? **

  • Answer: I would politely and firmly intervene to explain that every culture and language is unique and valuable. I would comfort the affected person and remind everyone that true humanity lies in mutual respect and acceptance.

Each of them tried with all their strength, but none could break it. Then, the father untied the bundle and gave a single stick to each son. They broke the single sticks easily into pieces.
